Sydney Szymczak (b. 2004, Elk Grove Village IL) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Chicago, IL. She is Currently earning a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree at School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2027) with a focus on sculpture and installation.

Through sculpture and multidisciplinary work, I explore themes of hyper femininity, human experience, American culture, artifice, and enigma. I am investigating the body as a means of story telling through stylized figurative representations, synthetic hair, nails, or feminine clothing to imply presence of a body. I often depict scenes of women in uncommon/ hyperspecific scenarios that leave the audience wondering what her story may be. Much of my work incorporates objects with human features, comparing and contrasting personhood with objecthood while utilizing both found and fabricated elements. I am inspired by pop culture, celebrity worship, body standard/ body modification, class, fantasy, spectacle, hyper real and the fake to create narratives that reflect facets of western culture and the human condition.
